Brisbane Broncos Supporter Blog Speculatation

Less than one week ago Sportingbet and Hans announced that they had upgraded their sponsorship of the Brisbane Broncos. Yesterday it was announced that Ivan Henjak was being let go as head coach of the Brisbane Broncos and the assistant coach Anthony Griffin would be taking over.

Rather than being upset about the timing of the departure of Henjak, the Brisbane Broncos Supporter blog wonders if it might not have been financial prudence or pr issues that led to the decision being made so close to the beginning of the 2011 season. After all, sacking the head coach before finalization or declaration of sponsorship will cast a shadow over the happy news.

Could this have been why the decision took so, seemingly, long to be made? Public relation is, after all, an important part of club footy.

Brisbane Broncos Supporter blog, however, stresses the point that we only find the timing interesting. The Brisbane Broncos Supporter blog would, if put in a similar situation, wait with any decision making regarding termination of coaching contracts until after sponsorship deals and the announcements of such were made. We have no inside information regarding the issue, nor do we have any other basis for the speculation aside from the timing.
